BJ Merriam is Co-Founder of Win The Mental Game. The Athlete’s Edge Journal was created by BJ and his partner Jonathan Smith as a self-development and empowerment tool that can provide athletes with the intangibles that cannot be found in training alone. Win The Mental Game’s mission is to help performers to increase their mental toughness through the power of positive psychology and goal setting.
In addition to his role as Co-Founder of WTMG, Merriam is Director of Compliance for Rutgers University Athletics. He is responsible for the oversight of compliance administration for baseball, field hockey, gymnastics, and men’s lacrosse.
BJ was previously the Assistant Director of Athletic Compliance at the University of Pennsylvania. In his time with the Quakers, Merriam monitored recruiting activities and playing and practice seasons for Penn’s athletic programs, and had oversight of the rules education program.
Prior to his time in compliance, Merriam was a collegiate soccer coach at his alma mater, Susquehanna University. Merriam is a current member of the National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC) Legislative and Governance Committee and the NCAA Initial Eligibility Waiver Committee.
Merriam holds a master’s in education from Bucknell, with an emphasis in college student personnel, as well as an undergraduate degree in business administration from Susquehanna.
